Seasons and seasons of a leather bag

Have you noticed how bags change with the seasons? Here at Utua, we live in the scent of leather and naturally we think about many things related to bags.

For example, in spring and summer, there is color and lightness on the shoulder, but in autumn and winter, you have to prepare for different weather conditions and need more spacious bags.

The look of our store also changes seasonally. Darker in winter, lighter in summer.

Leather bag winter

From freezing -15 degrees, it feels like -30... familiar to us here in the windy coastal region of Northern Ostrobothnia. According to statistics, there are an average of four completely calm days in Raahe per year. So it's almost always windy here.

When going to work, hobbies or visiting, you should take wool socks, mittens and maybe even a wool coat with you, just in case the interior is colder. They should be packed in a larger shoulder bag or shopper .

Winter demands a lot from a bag. A genuine leather bag can withstand frost and wind, snowfall and storms. Let it sleet, sleet and wind! No problem.

Faux leather is not typically a material for cold weather. When it freezes, it hardens into a lump and, in the worst case, cracks. The color surface may also peel off.

Genuine leather is not soft. Vegetable tanned leather stiffens a bit, but returns to its original shape when exposed to heat.

As the darkness leaves behind, both clothing and the "just in case" equipment you carry with you become lighter. Coats become thinner, wool socks remain in the drawer. The glints of sunlight melt away the clumsy thoughts towards the sunshine.

That's when you take out your lighter and more colorful bags. You feel refreshed when you realize that you can get by with less equipment.

A shoulder bag can hold everything you need. They are usually medium-sized and have just the right amount of space for your phone and wallet .

Summer bags

Summer is the time for parties. And if there's no party planned, a pet's birthday is enough. Or a day of reckoning. Festive dressing always includes a small bag , it's the finishing touch.

Since we always have our phones and keys with us, we need to have a way to carry them. A small bag is designed for that.

If you are a colorful person, you are lucky that we have a color selection. You don't want to darken a yellow floral dress with a black party bag. We often hear how our colorful bags receive admiring comments from bold dressers.

Autumn in the work bag

After the holidays, we rush back to work with enthusiasm. Right? At least rested. Right? Well, at least having forgotten the passwords to our work computer? Yes! That's a sign that the holiday has been a success.

Our autumns here in Finland are variable. Sometimes they are dry, clear and beautiful. Sometimes they rain for weeks on end, more or less. These conditions require heavy weapons.

A work bag needs to be the right size, fit for purpose, and of good quality. It needs to hold a heavy laptop, possibly folders, notebooks, a calendar, several phones... now that I've thought about it, don't worry, you can find one!

Large handbags or plush shoppers carry the necessary tools from home to work and back like a camel. The bags have a sealable opening to prevent rain or wind from getting in.

Our mission

Finland is a country of extremes. Temperatures fluctuate by several tens of degrees between summer and winter. We are a resilient and hardy people. We walk through life in wind and blizzard, rain and heat without complaining. Or, at least, we try.
