Functionality in Utua bags
Utua bags and their functionality are constantly being developed over the years. There are big and small tweaks to individual models and even entire collections.
Let's start with the big ones and move on to the smaller tweaks...
Bag zippers
Zippers play a surprisingly large role in the comfort of a leather bag . At Utua, almost all bags can be closed with a zipper, because the Finnish weather conditions require it. Rain and sleet must not get inside.
In addition, many models have a long zipper head. This allows the bag to be opened wider than it would be possible with a shorter zipper. In some bag models, this provides extra usability and allows you to see the entire contents of the bag at a glance.

If you hang the bag by the end of the chain when closing it, there is a risk that the chain will eventually break. The heavier the bag is packed, the more important this is to take into account.
A bag should always be suitable for its purpose: a small bag for small needs and a large one for larger ones. This way, you won't be tempted to stuff a small bag to the brim and stretch both the leather and the zipper.
The function is comparable to putting on a jacket that is too small. If the jacket size is not correct, the zipper is subjected to a strong pull and it is possible that at some point the teeth or the chain carriage give out. Or the fabric part of the chain. With good and careful use, these problems can be avoided.
Key strap and D-ring
Some of our bags come with a key strap that makes it easy to find your keys in your bag. Simply clip your keys onto the strap and you can even reach in to open locks without taking them out of your bag.

Leather shoulder straps
The Aurora shoulder bag has both a long and a short strap. Both are removable.
When you want to carry your bag in your hand or on your forearm, a short strap is best. When you need both hands free, a long shoulder strap is more practical. You can throw it cross-body over your head and this way the shoulder bag will stay with you even when you're going fast.
If your bag only has one strap, we have removable shoulder straps that you can purchase separately.
Decorations
For example, the popular Espoo small bag has a fun fringe decoration that acts as a zipper pull. It adds style to the small bag and makes the chain easy to use.
The Hera handbag is decorated with a beautiful Utua jewel. It depicts the swirling mist in the Utua logo. It is removable, so it can be used in other contexts, even as a piece of jewelry.
You see, a bag is not just a bag. It communicates many different things to its wearer. The kind of bag you choose says something about your character, your style and, above all, your responsible choices.
