Vegetable tanning is a method of leather production that has been practiced for thousands of years. Today, leather is tanned with water-soluble vegetable oils and tannins derived from trees. A color paste made from biodegradable vegetable oils and tannins is rubbed by hand onto the leather hide, making each hide unique. This also makes each bag unique.
