Timeless and unique Utua bag

At Utua, we don't design fashion, but timeless classics, alternatives to slow consumption. The practical design of Utua bags, the world's best leather, high-quality sewing and easy repairability guarantee that a well-cared for and maintained Utua bag will last a long time. Each Utua bag is designed in Finland and manufactured in high-quality atelier-level craftsmanship in Europe.

Zero waste

Utua leather bags are cut and sewn in a small family-owned leather workshop in Greece. Our seamstresses are skilled artisans with extensive experience in their work. Even during the design phase of the bags, we take into account material efficiency, service life optimization and product repairability. This ensures that the production of our bag range has as little impact on the environment as possible.

In the production of Utua bags, leather is used efficiently. A prime example of this is our Uniikki bag collection, where the material efficiency of leather has been taken to the extreme. Each Uniikki bag is hand-sewn from surplus pieces from other bag production, which makes each Uniikki bag unique. With Utua's numbered Uniikki bag on your shoulder, you can be sure that you won't come across another one like it!

Leather is a natural product

Leather is a genuine natural product that breathes and is durable. In addition, leather has individual properties that make each hide vibrant and unique.

The leather used in Utua bags is mainly from Nordic food production by-products. The Nordic countries have some of the strictest animal welfare legislation in the world, ensuring that the animals have good living conditions. The leather is manufactured in a factory in Italy, where the use of water and chemicals is minimised. The factory also has a closed water circulation system, which means that no process water is discharged into the sewer.

Bioleather

Our selection also includes leather tanned with biodegradable vegetable oils, which is more ecological than traditional vegetable-tanned leather. When tanning the leather, biodegradable oil is used, which does not burden the water supply at all. The vegetable-tanned leather we use is also hand-dyed, which is reflected in the lively appearance of the hide's surface. Thanks to hand-dyeing, each hide is also completely individual.
