The founder of Utua, Piia Vähäsalo's love for bold and joyful colors and authentic materials is easy to sense from the product range. Self-expression and empowerment through colors have played an important role in her own life, so Utua's colorful collection was born out of a desire to offer the same opportunity to others.
The life values that they consider important in their own personal lives have also become Utua's values, and the company's operations are guided by them. The choices made in the early stages of Utua, for example regarding manufacturing locations and materials, are still valid today, even though the product range has expanded over the years.

All products are manufactured within the EU.
All our products are made from high-quality materials by long-standing professionals. These skilled craftspeople have decades of experience in manufacturing even the most demanding leather goods. By operating within the EU, we want to ensure proper production conditions and that the people who make our products receive fair compensation for their work. Our partners are committed to complying with European labor laws.
The leather used in the bags is processed in Italy, and the sewing work takes place in a family-owned atelier in Greece.

Our products are brought to life in our design studio, located in the idyllic Old Raahe. Our roots are deep in the landscape and soul of Northern Ostrobothnia, and this is reflected in both our values and our daily work.
It's easy to visit us, as you can drive right up to the door! Our store is open all year round. Welcome!

Where did it all begin?
As dawn breaks and evening cools, a beautiful mist drifts across the plains of Ostrobothnia. Inspired by this sight, Utua, a Finnish handbag and clothing brand drawing inspiration from Finnish nature and soulscapes, was born in 2014. True to our roots, our designs are based on Ostrobothnian clarity and practicality. We want to create timeless and unique products, reflecting the personality of their wearer, suitable for everyday life and special occasions, in any situation, throughout life. It is important to us that our products are durable and cherished by their users. We design details into each product that make it unique and personal. The purpose of our products is to complement the wearer's personality. That's why we love the moments when we see that our product has found its rightful owner! Responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. We want to contribute to creating a more sustainable world where both people and the environment thrive. Every Utua product is designed in Raahe and manufactured from responsible materials within the EU.
