Domesticity to glory
If we Finns are asked if we support domesticity in our purchasing choices, we nod: "Sure, of course, without a doubt!"
In 2020, the Finnish Work Association conducted a study that showed that Finns' desire to buy domestically has increased. The plight of companies during the corona crisis made us think about what exactly I, as an individual, could do to get out of this pit?
So the thinking is on the side of Finnish companies. Still, it is challenging for domestic online stores to cope with the huge international waste.

Domestic online store
When you shop from a Finnish online store, domesticity is present in many convenient ways:
- You can do business in your native language.
- If the product does not meet your expectations, it is easier to investigate the matter, return the product and/or replace it.
- Payment is secure. 70% of Finns use their own online bank to pay for their purchases.
What is responsibility?
A third of Finns consider responsibility when purchasing. For some, this means domesticity, longevity and quality.
For some, responsibility is precisely the basic principles on which the company operates.
The way in which transparency is brought to the fore in the production chain and product sales is one of the company's most important value choices.
Utua's responsibility choices
At Utua, we have already made many responsible choices for you. Which means you only need to make one.
• Utua is a domestic brand, company and online store that creates jobs in Finland.
• Our online store is available in Finnish.
• Our company's operations take place within the EU, which means that everyone involved in our production chain receives fair compensation for their work. We do not take advantage of low-cost importing countries that abuse human rights or manufacture in unsafe conditions.
• The cowhide we use is a by-product of food production that would otherwise go unused. Here in the Nordic countries, animals have better conditions than in many other countries, so the leather is also of higher quality.
• The leather is processed in a modern and environmentally friendly factory in Italy, which also has a gold medal rating from the Leather Working Group.
• Our bags are sewn in a small family-owned atelier of skilled artisans in Greece. We employ almost all of this company.
• Our merino wool products are 100% domestically produced.

But the most important thing is...
When you buy a Utua brand bag, you support domestic, Northern Finnish and Raahe entrepreneurship. You employ and create vitality. But this is not the first priority.
The most important thing is that you get quality that will last for years to come. You get beautiful, timeless design. You get a work bag for your everyday assistant or, for example, a colorful little bag to enhance your festive outfit.
... need!
The starting point for everything is need. We don't design bags just for our own pleasure, but for a clear need.
For now, we still need bags, totes, backpacks, purses and wallets to carry our belongings. We still need a carrying device for our calendar, phone and other important things. Fortunately. It would be quite a sight if we stuffed all our belongings into our pockets.
So we want to offer a responsible alternative to your bag needs.
